Franklin, Tenn., Feb. 4 - Metrolight, Inc., a leader in energy management solutions focused on energy-efficient electronic High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting, today announced a fundamental commitment to protect the environment by becoming an ENERGY STAR partner. Metrolight, through its voluntary partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR Program, will work to improve energy efficiency and fight global warming. Metrolight believes that strategic, corporate energy management programs will help enhance our overall financial health and aid in preserving the environment for future generations.

"As a leading provider of energy-efficient lighting solutions, we are excited to launch our partnership with the EPA's ENERGY STAR Program," said Igal Zamir, Chief Executive Officer of Metrolight. "We are committed to generating global awareness that it is possible to significantly reduce energy consumption and minimize the environmental impact of energy use, while still receiving unrivaled light quality, reliability and control...all with the technology that exists in the marketplace today."

In partnership with ENERGY STAR, Metrolight will:

  • Measure and track performance of our energy management solutions where possible by using tools such as those offered through ENERGY STAR;
  • Develop and implement plans consistent with the ENERGY STAR Energy Management Guidelines to achieve energy savings;
  • Help spread the word about the importance of energy efficiency to our staff, clients, partners and community;
  • Support ENERGY STAR Challenge, a national call-to-action to improve the energy efficiency of America's commercial and industrial buildings by 10 percent or more;
  • Highlight achievements with recognition offered through ENERGY STAR.

"Environmental responsibility is everyone's responsibility - and today I'm pleased Metrolight is taking this motto to heart," said EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson. "By making smart energy choices, Metrolight is helping improve our nation's energy and environmental outlook."

Metrolight's ENERGY STAR partnership begins just one month after they were awarded the Energy Innovator Award from the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).

About ENERGY STAR

ENERGY STAR was introduced by EPA in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. Today, the ENERGY STAR label can be found on more than 50 different kinds of products, new homes and commercial and industrial buildings. In 2007, Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved $16 billion on their energy bills while reducing the greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 27 million vehicles.
