Netanya, Israel February 18, 2010 – Metrolight (www.,metrolight.com) the leading manufacturer of Electronic High Intensity Discharge (EHID) ballasts, announced today that in partnership with its regional integration partner, Enerlight, an Energy Services company specializing in lighting efficiency upgrades for commercial and governmental clients, it successfully completed upgrading the lighting system at AB&I Foundry of Oakland, California, the largest manufacturer of cast iron soil pipe and fittings in the Western United States.

Following a thorough selection process, Metrolight’s EHID technology was chosen for this project over some of the most established companies and technologies in the lighting industry. The project was subsidized through a California utility rebate program and was completed in mid June, 2009.

To maximize savings for AB&I, Enerlight replaced hundreds of antiquated lamps with Metrolight’s state-of-the-art Electronic HID fixtures, cutting edge dimming EHID ballasts and intelligent controls.

“In undertaking this project, AB&I wanted to increase the intelligence of our systems via controls, maximize energy savings through dimming functions while seamlessly integrating the new system with our current platform,” said Al Chang, Plant Controls Engineer at AB&I. “Metrolight efficiently and effectively accomplished all of these objectives, which were further complicated due to the fact that the project was carried out in a facility over 100 years old.”

Before launching the project, an official site audit of the AB&I Foundry was performed to evaluate potential energy savings potential. It found that the new Metrolight HID fixtures in place will save AB&I more than $100,000 a year in lighting costs and will reduce energy usage by more than 732,000 kwH/yr.

“We are very pleased that AB&I has selected our EHID solution and that they have already expressed great satisfaction with the advantages our technology offers,” said Zvi Segal, Chief Executive Officer of Metrolight. "The successful implementation of this project is a further testimony to the close cooperation between Metrolight and its integration partners. As the benefits of EHID continue to become more widely recognized, Metrolight, through its global partnerships, is committed to providing companies around the world with the industry’s leading electronic HID lighting solutions in an effort to help them reduce costs and slash energy usage.”
